Breast Cancer Care and Upper & Lower Extremity Lymphedema Treatment
At Eugene Physical Therapy, our goal is to help prevent lymphyedema and maintain arm function for patients following Lumpectomy, Mastectomy, Reconstruction, and/or Radiation therapy. However, if a patient has already developed this condition we also provide in-office care with manual lymph drainage and family instruction and education of these techniques.
Our primary goal is to help prevent or minimize the risk of developing lymphedema or functional loss of arm and/or leg following cancer treatment.
If lymphedema is present we are trained to treat:
Head & neck
We utilize a combination of soft tissue mobilization techniques, compression, in addition to traditional manual lymph drainage to help prevent/treat cording, webbing, adhesions, and edema, to ensure you have the information you need to take care of this and return to safe functional and recreational activities.
Range of motion maintenance of chest soft tissues, shoulder, and arm
Education in self breast care following surgery and radiation, home care, and appropriate transitions back to general and recreational activity
Custom fit or resources provided for access to compressive garments, clothing, and skin care products when/if needed
